Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS)

The EOPS Program assists low income and educationally disadvantaged full-time students to achieve their academic goals at Santa Rosa Junior College through a variety of support functions that include outreach, orientation, bilingual assistance in Spanish, early registration, counseling, advocacy, transition services, and book awards. The EOPS Program attempts to create an environment that is responsive to the needs of students and supportive of cultural diversity throughout the college community.

CARE (COOPERATIVE AGENCIES RESOURCES FOR EDUCATION)

The CARE program offers additional assistance such as grants, vouchers, and workshops for parenting students in EOPS who also meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be eligible for EOPS Services
  • Be eligible for TANF, CalWORKs, or SonomaWORKs cash aid
  • Be a single head of household
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have a child 18 years old or younger.

Bear Cub Scholars Foster Youth Support Program

The Bear Cub Scholars Program (formerly known as NextUp) provides services to current or former foster youth attending Santa Rosa Junior College. Our mission is to empower our students by providing them with the support they need to reach their academic goals.  We offer academic counseling, financial assistance, and educational resources to encourage a successful and enriching college experience for all of the students we serve.

To qualify:

• You must have been in foster care, a group home, kinship, guardianship, or another type of out-of-home placement for at least one day during your life.

• Be enrolled in a minimum of 3 for credit academic units

• Be 35 years of age or younger


Assistance offered to most students:

• Academic counseling

• Help with purchase of books and school supplies

• Helpful, fun, and enriching workshops

• A supportive community, including your peers

• Financial assistance

• Laptop, wi-fi hotspot and other technology services needed to be successful
